SageGlass uses a patented electrochromic glazing technology that changes tint electronically to block, or welcome in, the sun’s rays. You can automatically or manually switch SageGlass from a clear to a tinted state.
We coat the glass with patented nanotechnology-based ceramic materials that are 1/50th the thickness of a human hair. When low-voltage is applied, the coating darkens, allowing SageGlass to absorb unwanted heat and block the glare. Reversing the voltage polarity returns SageGlass to its clear state so you can optimize daylight and solar energy.
On hot, sunny days SageGlass tints to reduce glare, fading and overheating. In fact, SageGlass can block up to 91 percent of oppressive solar heat gain. On cold or cloudy days, the glass untints to make maximum use of the sun’s light and warmth.
In addition to push-button control, SageGlass can be programmed to maintain a constant light level throughout the day. In this case, SageGlass uses integrated sensors to tell the glass when and how much to tint or clear to compensate for changing light conditions outside.
SageGlass also integrates seamlessly with building automation systems so you can control natural light along with electric lights, HVAC, security and other building systems.
SageGlass’ ability to dynamically change tint on demand solves the age-old conundrum of how to optimize daylight for energy efficiency while keeping people comfortable…without blocking the view to the outdoors.
