SAGE

How it’s Made

Sage Story

We invested in the world’s best manufacturing technologies to produce dynamic glass of uncompromising quality and reliability. Our patented process starts by coating float glass with nano-layers of metal oxides using a sputter deposition system. It’s a process similar to that used to make millions of square feet of low-e glass each year. We then fabricate SageGlass into an insulating glass unit (IGU) with another piece of glass using a stainless steel spacer.

Our process is unique: we hold 220 US
and global patents in electrochromic and
glass manufacturing technologies.

Soon, SageGlass will be manufactured in our new 324,000-sq.-ft. (98 760-sq-meter) state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Minnesota. It will feature the world’s largest thin-film coating system for glass – a record-breaking coating line nearly 500 feet long. Thanks to these market-leading manufacturing facilities and processes, we will be the world’s first and only company able to produce dynamic glass in high volumes and large commercial architectural sizes at an affordable cost.
